AscendPoint buys Medical Marketing Whiz to add a women's health specialist

AscendPoint has a simple model for growing in healthcare: find the best specialist in a niche and put them in charge of it. Its latest deal does exactly that.

The Rye, New York agency has acquired Medical Marketing Whiz, a women-led agency founded by Lori Werner. The deal was announced on 12 October. Terms were not disclosed.

What AscendPoint is buying

Medical Marketing Whiz has spent more than ten years marketing private practice doctors and med spas across the US and Canada. Its focus is tight: women's health, OB/GYN, urogynecology, anti-aging, functional and naturopathic medicine, aesthetics and weight loss clinics.

Its services go beyond the usual social, email and local SEO. It also runs reputation management, webinars, events and podcasts, and even helps doctors publish books.

Clients and staff move across to AscendPoint. Werner joins with the title Chief Marketing Whiz, leading growth and strategy for those medical specialties.

The buyer

AscendPoint is co-founded and run by co-CEOs Patrick and Sonia Hounsell. Its dental arm, SERP Dental, has worked with more than 300 dental practices on SEO, websites, paid ads, social and branding.

"Our business model puts an expert in charge of every vertical," said Sonia Hounsell in the announcement. Patrick Hounsell pointed to AI search and online reputation as the forces now shaping how practices compete.

Why it matters

This is a small deal with a clear lesson. A founder with deep knowledge of one patient group, and a client base to match, is exactly what a vertical-led buyer wants. Werner keeps a leadership role, her clients get a bigger team behind them, and AscendPoint gets a ready-made women's health practice.
